  • Grace period for LAP related to U.S. Surtax Remission Order. The Canada Border Services Agency on Oct. 29 issued Customs Notice 18-20, regarding a two-week grace period, or Late Accounting Penalty (LAP) waiver, for LAPs that were released between Oct. 11 and Oct. 25, 2018, inclusively, in connection with the United States Surtax Remission Order. The remission order went into effect Oct. 11, and CBSA said it "recognizes the difficulties importers and their representatives had in properly accounting for imports affected by this remission order due to system restrictions."
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2018 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
  • Product Recalls: Mountain Warehouse Limited recalls BPA-free printed kids' water bottles manufactured in China, for choking hazard.
