- CITT issues determination on carbon steel welded pipe. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Sept. 18 determined that there is a reasonable indication that the dumping of carbon steel welded pipe from Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam has caused injury or is threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. The CITT inquiry was a result of the initiation of a dumping investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency, which will continue its investigation and, by Oct. 18, 2018, issue a preliminary determination.
- Canada’s international transactions in securities for July 2018. Statistics Canada reports that foreign investment in Canadian securities reached $12.7 billion in July, primarily from acquisitions of federal government bonds. For the same period, Canadian investment in foreign securities totaled $13.1 billion, led by record purchases of foreign bonds, it said.
- Product Recalls: Les Distributions Orca Lite Inc. recalls FLEXI LIGHT multipurpose utility lighters manufactured in China, for fire and burn hazards; Xtava recalls Allure and Allure Pro 2200W ionic ceramic hair dryers manufactured in China, for fire, burn and electrical shock hazards.
