  • Government of Canada to help fund expanded lobster export operation. The Canadian government announced Sept. 7 it is providing $400,000 to help Capital Seafood International Inc. in Nova Scotia expand from a seasonal operation into a year-round exporter of live lobsters. The contribution is through the Business Development Program of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, designed to work with small and medium-sized companies to boost competitiveness in export markets. The investment is part of the commitment made by Canada's government and the four Atlantic provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, which involves targeted actions to expand business activities between Atlantic Canada and international markets.
