  • CITT issues determination of reasonable indication of injury for Chinese sucker rods. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on July 17 determined that there is a reasonable indication that the dumping and subsidizing of sucker rods from China have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. The Canada Border Services Agency will continue its investigations into the dumping and subsidizing of the products, which are made of steel and used in oil wells, and, by Aug. 16, 2018, will issue its preliminary determinations.
  • Canadian international transactions for May 2018. Statistics Canada reports that foreign investment in Canadian securities slowed to $2.2 billion in May, down from $9.1 billion in April. Meanwhile, Canadian investors resumed their investment in foreign securities by adding $5.7 billion worth to their holdings, mainly in foreign bonds, for the same month.
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2018 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
