  • Surtaxes imposed on certain products originating in U.S. The Canada Border Services Agency issued July 11 updates to the June 29 Customs Notice 18-08, which provides information on the introduction and application of the United States Surtax Order (Steel and Aluminum): SOR/2018-152 and the United States Surtax Order (Other Goods): SOR/2018-153, effective July 1, 2018, regarding surtax provisions on certain products originating in the United States. The surtaxes were introduced in response to the imposition of U.S. tariffs on imports of certain steel and aluminum products from Canada, which became effective June 1.
  • CBSA issues statement of reasons on dry wheat pasta from Turkey. The Canada Border Services Agency issued on July 11 its statement of reasons in its June 26 final determination with respect to the dumping and subsidizing of certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey.
  • Product Recalls: Saje Natural Wellness Inc. recalls Saje Natural Wellness Splish Splash Gentle Baby Wash manufactured in Canada, for bacterial contamination; Yakima Products Inc. recalls Yakima HoldUp EVO Bicycle Carriers manufactured in China, for crash and personal injury hazards; OCOOW LLC recalls Odie’s Solvent-Free Super Penetrating Oil and Odie’s Safer Solvent manufactured in the United States, for improper chemical hazard packaging and labeling.
