  • CBSA launches investigation into dry wheat pasta from Turkey. The Canada Border Services Agency on Dec. 28 said it is launching an investigation into whether or not certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey is being sold at unfair prices in Canada. It will also investigate whether or not subsidies are being applied to certain dry wheat pasta originating in or exported from Turkey.
  • South Korea: Certain liquid dielectric transformers. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Dec. 22 completed its expiry review concerning the dumping of liquid dielectric transformers having a top power handling capacity equal to or exceeding 60,000 kilovolt amperes (60 megavolt amperes), whether assembled or unassembled, complete or incomplete, originating in or exported from South Korea. It concluded that the expiry of the order is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the subject goods to Canada. A statement of reasons is due within 15 days of the decision.
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2017 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
  • Product Recalls: PPG Architectural Coatings Canada Inc. recalls Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner and CIL Scrub-Free Deck Cleaner manufactured in the United States, for leak, unintended chemical exposure hazards; Northern Souvenirs recalls kids’ upper outerwear with drawstrings at the neck/hood manufactured in Pakistan, for strangulation hazard; Honeywell Safety Products USA, Inc. recalls Honeywell A600, Stanley Uvex A600 Safety Googles and certain Snap-On Safety Googles manufactured in China, for flammability hazard.
