- Canadian Agricultural Partnership aims to help farmers and food processors. In July 2017 the key elements of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership -- a five-year, $3 billion federal, provincial and territorial investment for Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector -- were established. The agreement will help the sector reach Canada’s goal to grow the country's agriculture and food exports to $75 billion by 2025. Minister of Agriculture Lawrence MacAulay on Nov. 24 announced the initiatives and priorities of the $1 billion federal investment in the partnership, set for an April 1, 2018, launch.
- Goods to be employed in a noxious atmosphere. The Canada Border Services Agency Nov. 27 issued an update to Memorandum D10-15-26, which outlines the agency’s interpretation of the expression “to be employed in a noxious atmosphere” throughout the Customs Tariff. The definition of "noxious atmosphere" has been clarified in the update.
- CFIA suspends fish processing registration of ECAF East Coast Atlantic Fisheries Ltd. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has suspended the license of ECAF East Coast Atlantic Fisheries Ltd., effective Nov. 20, because adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis, as required by the Fish Inspection Regulations.
- Product Recalls: DashVapes Inc. recalls DotBox 300W by DotMod manufactured in China, for battery over-discharging hazard; ITW Permatex recalls Permatex Rust Dissolver Gel manufactured in the United States, for not meeting labeling and child-resistant packaging requirements.
