Canadian Government Notices as of Nov. 3
The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of Nov. 3 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- CITT finds no injury or threat of injury from imports of silicon metal. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) announced Nov. 2 that the dumping and subsidizing of silicon metal, originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Norway and Thailand, have not caused and are not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will therefore not be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency, it said. Reasons for the findings will be released Nov. 17.
- Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) Program and 2018 version. The Canada Border Services Agency issued Customs Notice 17-34 to inform exporters about the revisions to designated export offices, important export reporting information and that the new 2018 version of the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) program software will be available and ready for download on Dec. 11. The 2017 version of CAED will expire on Jan. 31, 2018, after which time only the 2018 version will be valid. The 2018 version will be the last update to CAED and will be valid until it is retired in January 2020, it said. Also, CBSA said it is developing a new system to replace CAED by January 2020.
- Product Recalls: Kidde recalls Fire Extinguishers with plastic handles manufactured in the U.S. and Mexico, for failure to activate hazard; L.L. Bean recalls Toddler Sweater Fleece Pullovers manufactured in Jordan, for choking hazard.
