APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 18

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 18 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3-19 Swine Products

  • Figure 3-19-4 APHIS-Approved Italian Prosciutto (Ham) Deboning Plants -- (page 2 of 2) NEW plant numbers 2069L and 2086L have been added
  • Figure 3-19-5 APHIS-Approved Italian Prosciutto (Ham) Slicing Plants -- (page 2 of 2) NEW plant number H5H5G has been added
  • Table 3-19-35 Fresh (Chilled or Frozen) Swine Meat from Mexico - hyperlinks to Figure 3-19-7 have been corrected throughout the table

Chapter 3-20 Trophies

Page 3-20-1 under Contents heading -- chapter table of contents has been revised

  • Pages 3-20-4 through 3-20-8 -- content has been rewritten

Appendix A Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage

  • Table A-1-7 Unprocessed Game Bird Carcasses in Passenger Baggage -- first three rows have been replaced

Miscellaneous and Processed Products: The following changes have been made to the Miscellaneous and Processed Products Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections:

Chapter 3 Reference

  • Table 3-129 Fresh, cut vegetables -- (page 4 of 5) language has been added to mushrooms row
  • Table 3-168 Wood packaging material (WPM) LACKING ISPM 15 mark -- table has been revised; language in footnote #3 has been revised referencing and linking to a new supplemental document located on the Manuals Unit home page titled, "Supplemental Notes for Alternative Secure Disposal Procedures for Non-Compliant Dunnage in Maritime Cargo Policy"
