APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Nov. 17

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Nov. 17 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Fruits and Vegetables. The Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Import Requirements (FAVIR) database (here) have been updated to clarify import and domestic movement requirements for 125 commodities that are admissible into continental United States (CONUS) ports. Stakeholders who import these commodities through a CONUS port should not distribute those commodities to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or other U.S. territories. In the manual, changes are throughout the Reference section and are indicated by black change bars in the left margin.

Hawaii Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Hawaii Manual (here) has been updated to revise the contact information in Table 3-16: Sugarcane Juice and Other Articles Derived from Sugarcane on page 3-14.
