The patented technology enables location software to work on lower power consumption than other location-based services technologies and has the potential to improve the battery life of mobile devices and reduce battery drainage problems, it said. Location-based technologies currently consume battery power “at an alarming rate, which renders their use in a disaster situation difficult,” said Rivada Chief Scientist Clint Smith.
