APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 10

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes Aug. 10 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. Treatment Manual: The USDA APHIS PPQ Treatment Manual (here) has been updated to add Peru fig and pomegranate to irradiation schedule T105-a-1 [APHIS Dockets 16-011-2 and 16-012-2, effective 08-10-16]. Changes in the manual, indicated by black change bars in the left page margin, are on page 5-2-72.

Fruits and Vegetables. The Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Import Requirements (FAVIR) database (here) have been updated. There were several reasons for the update.

  • Dominican Republic various commodities: align with Federal Order DA-2016-51, effective 08-10-16
  • Peru fig and pomegranate: Final Rule Dockets 16-012-2 and 16-011-2, effective 08-10-16
