APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for July 11

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes July 11 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Plants for Planting: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 07/2016-45. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin, are as follows:

  • Page 4-239: Aligned Leersia spp. seed with 7 CFR 319.37-2, prohibited from all countries
  • Page 4-243: Aligned Leptochloa spp. seed with 319.37-2, prohibited from all countries
  • Pages 4-377 through 4-385: Corrected Quercus spp. seed treatment
  • Pages 7-1 through 7-5: Revised information about the existing preclearance program and select genera of bulbs and underground portions of dormant perennials for clarity.
