APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 2

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes May 2 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting: The Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, 05/2016-44, to include Federal Order DA-2016-31, Citrus Greening and Citrus Variegated Chlorosis Regulatory Requirements, effective immediately; to revise pre-existing wording for Rutaceae seed requirements for consistency; and to make other formatting changes. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Page 2-23: Added new Rutaceae section that includes requirements for Rutaceae seeds
  • Page 2-24: Added species of Rutaceae seeds that require an additional declaration
  • Page 2-25: Added Table 2-3, Rutaceae Family Seeds to help determine how to regulate

  • Page 2-46: Added a summary of Federal Order DA-2016-31
