APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for April 28

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced changes April 28 to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Canadian Border: The Canadian Border Agricultural Clearance Manual (here) has been revised to do the following:

  • Update the List of Figures.
  • Update contact information in Table 1-3.
  • Replace the outdated edition of PPQ Form 526 with the December 2011 edition in Appendix A.
  • Add PPQ Forms 546, 587, and 588 to Appendix A.
  • Update contact information for Van Buren, ME in Appendix C.

  • Chapter 1: Introduction: Page 1-10.
  • Appendix A: Certificates, Other Forms, and Permits: Pages A-5, A-34 through A-36, and A-40 through A-46.

Biological Agents of Weeds: The Technical Advisory Group for Biological Agents of Weeds Manual (TAG-BCAW Manual), 04/2016 Interim Edition, is now available (here). The interim edition contains Chapters 1 through 5 and Appendix A only; remaining to be released at a later date. The TAG-BCAW Manual provides guidance for the technical advisory group and the scientific community, including petitioners and TAG-BCAW reviewers.
