Commerce Inks Strategic Partnership With NCBFAA to Promote Logistics Industry
The Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration recently signed a new strategic partnership agreement with the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America to strengthen the logistics and transportation industry, promote trade and investment, and enforce U.S. trade laws, said the NCBFAA in a press release sent on Sept. 21. The partnership “seeks to increase awareness of the economic benefits of international trade, educate the public on trade activities as a job creator and development strategy, as well as encourage U.S businesses to accelerate their exporting operations while simultaneously generating interest from foreign companies to coordinate with ITA regarding importing valuable commodities,” said the release.

Through the partnership, the NCBFAA and the ITA will work to increase trade and business investment, particularly among small- and medium-sized corporations, said the NCBFAA. The two organizations will also work to coordinate trade and business promotion activities, “which will potentially include promoting greater awareness of national initiatives such as the National Export Initiative/Next, the National Travel and Tourism Strategy, and the Select USA Initiative,” it said.
The NCBFAA gains “an outstanding platform for advancing the interests of not only its diverse membership but also the industry at large,” said Association President Geoffrey Powell. The collaboration provides the ITA “with a unique opportunity to educate U.S. exporters and service providers of all sizes, increase awareness, and address logistics and transportation hurdles,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis Marcus Jadotte.
