BIS Slaps Export Ban on US Marine Over Weapons Exports to China

The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) banned export privileges for Joseph DeBose until 2023 over violations of the Arms Export Control Act (here). A U.S. District Court convicted DeBose in 2013 of exporting firearms and firearm barrels from the U.S. to China. DeBose allegedly exported a Beretta 9mm semi-automatic handgun, a weapon currently controlled on the U.S. Munitions List, without the required license. BIS recently placed DeBose on the Denied Persons List (see 1505150005). DeBose is a former U.S. Marine (see 13072217).
