Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. - EU requests WTO panel on Russia. The EU has requested a dispute settlement panel to investigate what it calls Russia's excessive use of import duties. The specific goods in question are paper products, refrigerators, and palm oil. Russia diverges from what was decided at the time it was joining the WTO with higher duty rates and minimum payments based on value of goods. (here)
- REACH annual report. The Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) annual report for 2014 has been published. A total of 283 compliance check evaluations carried over from 2013 or opened during 2014, were concluded. The report finds that more registrants are complying with the European Chemical Agency's dossier evaluation decisions. (here)
- Recalls. The European Commission issued its weekly list of measures to prevent or restrict the marketing or use of 41 products in the EU, including certain clothing, toys, cosmetics, protective equipment, furniture, and electrical appliances. (here)
