USTR to Participate in TTIP Round, AGOA Stakeholder Meeting, Japanese Talks This Week

U.S. negotiators will participate in the sixth round of Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations from July 14-18 in Brussels, said the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in its weekly schedule. Meanwhile, USTR Michael Froman will participate in a July 14 roundtable on the African Growth and Opportunity Act hosted by the Global Leadership Coalition.

Acting Deputy USTR Wendy Cutler will hold two days of negotiations with senior Japanese trade negotiators Hiroshi Oe from July 14-15 on agriculture market access in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Froman will also meet with Japanese political figure Koya Nishikawa of the Liberal Democratic Party on July 15 in Washington, D.C. Later that day, Froman will then depart for Sydney, Australia to attend the G20 Trade Ministers meeting. Cutler will meet with senior Japanese trade negotiator Takeo Mori on auto trade in TPP from July 16-18 in Washington, D.C.

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative and U.S. Ambassador to the WTO Michael Punke will then on July 16 testify before the House Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee for a hearing on the U.S. trade agenda and the World Trade Organization. Chief TTIP negotiator Dan Mullaney will co-host a briefing with TTIP stakeholders in Brussels on July 16 and then wrap up the week with a July 18 press conference at the conclusion of the TTIP negotiating round.
