- New national standard for Icewine in Canada. The CFIA has announced that the Government of Canada is introducing regulatory amendments aimed at creating a new national standard for how icewine is produced and will make it easier for producers to export icewine by adhering to international standards and opening up new markets with the World Wine Trade Groups participating countries. - Prime Minister Harper to travel to Mexico for North American Leaders Summit. Prime Minister Stephen Harper will travel to Mexico to attend the Seventh North American Leaders Summit, which will also be attended by Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto and the President of the United States Barack Obama. They will discuss economic competitiveness, energy and security cooperation. (here)
- New trade office to open in Iraq. Minister of State Lynne Yelich, while on a four-day visit to Iraq, oversaw the opening of a Canadian Trade Representation Office Erbil in northern Iraq which is Canada’s first trade mission to Iraq in 25 years. (here)
- Passover products remission order. The CBSA has released Memorandum D8-3-6 which covers tariff item 9905.00.00 covering importations of Passover products into Canada. (here)
- China steel fasteners. The CBSA will be closing the record in regards to the reinvestigation into the dumping and subsidizing of certain steel fasteners originating in or exported from China. (here)
- Product Recalls. Visonic LTD. recalls Amber SelectX Personal Emergency Alarms manufactured in Israel (here), MAT industries LLC recalls Air Compressors manufactured in China. (here)
