Shipping Coordinating Committee to Hold Public Meeting on IMO Preparation

The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee (SCC) will conduct an open meeting on Feb. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington D.C. The meeting is intended to prepare participants for the first Session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW) to be held at the IMO Headquarters, United Kingdom, February 17 - 21, 2014. Among other topics, the SCC meeting will cover the following:

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties.   • Decisions of other IMO bodies
  • Development of guidance for personnel involved with tug-barge operations
  • Development of a mandatory code for ships operating in polar waters
