Shipping Coordinating Committee to Hold Public Meeting on IMO Preparation
The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee (SCC) will conduct an open meeting on Feb. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Washington D.C. The meeting is intended to prepare participants for the first Session of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW) to be held at the IMO Headquarters, United Kingdom, February 17 - 21, 2014. Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. - Decisions of other IMO bodies
- Development of guidance for personnel involved with tug-barge operations
- Development of a mandatory code for ships operating in polar waters
- Guidelines for shipowners and seafarers for proper implementation of relevant IMO instruments in relation to the carriage of dangerous goods in packaged form by sea
- Development of the international code of safety for ships using gases or low flash-point fuels (IGF Code)
