Census Confirms FTR Rewrite Postponement

The Commerce Department’s Census Bureau confirmed the postponement of the effective date of revisions to the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), from Jan. 8, 2014 to April 5, 2014. The Census announced the postponement during a Nov. 7 webinar (see 13110811). U.S. exporters will not have to comply with new FTR provisions, including reporting of temporary exports and shipments of used self-propelled vehicles, new data elements required in the Automated Export System, and changes to postdeparture filing, until April 5, Census confirmed.
