State Schedules Meetings on Corporate Security Overseas, Dispute Resolution

The State Department announced plans to hold the following meetings to address international business security for U.S. industry and private sector dispute resolution:

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. The State Department Advisory Committee on Private International Law will hold a public meeting (here) focused on cross-border insolvency issues under consideration in the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). The public meeting will take place on Nov. 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 12 p.m. EST at State Department headquarters, the Harry S Truman Building. The committee will be only partially represented. The public submission of comments is encouraged. Those interested in attending must obtain pre-clearance by providing full name, address, date of birth, citizenship, driver’s license or passport number, and e-mail address to pil@state.gov, preferably by Oct. 28. Those interested may also comment without attending and participate via telephone.
The State Department State Advisory Committee on Private International Law (ACPIL) -- Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Study Group will hold a public meeting (here) to discuss the next session of the UNCITRAL ODR Working Group. This public meeting will be held on Nov. 7, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST at State Department headquarters, the Harry S Truman Building. The committee will be only partially represented. The next session of the UNCITRAL ODR Working Group is scheduled to be held Nov. 18-22, 2013 in Vienna. Those interested in attending should contact pil@state.gov by Oct. 31.
The State Department Overseas Security Advisory Council will hold a closed meeting (here) Nov. 19-21 to examine corporate security policies and procedures. The meeting will host extensive discussion on trade secrets and propriety commercial information, as well as law enforcement investigative techniques and procedures. The meeting will touch on other matters related to the protection of U.S. business information overseas.
