Ontario County Applies for Third Rochester, N.Y. Foreign Trade Zone

Ontario County in New York is asking the Foreign-Trade Zones Board for permission to establish a third FTZ near the port of Rochester, according to a Federal Register notice set for publication Aug. 28. The zone would be established under the alternative site framework (ASF), which allows for quicker designation of subzones and usage driven sites. It would include in its service area Ontario, Wayne, Seneca, Yates, Steuben, and Livingston Counties, New York. The two existing zones at the port of Rochester, FTZ 141 and FTZ 284, include Monroe and Genesee Counties, respectively. Comments on the application are due by Oct. 28.
