Commerce Secretary Pritzker Vows to Push USML-CCL Transfers

Speaking before thousands of attendees at the Update 2013 Conference on Export Controls, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker pledged expeditious transfer of USML items that no longer warrant control to the Commerce Control List (CCL). The transfers are part of the administration’s Export Control Reform (ECR) Initiative.

“The departments of State and Commerce, working with Defense and other federal partners, plan to publish proposed or final rules this year for all of the remaining categories, including electronics, satellites, and training equipment,” said Pritzker. The interagency effort has, to date, finalized rule changes for four sets of USML categories and proposed rules to 13 others.
