USTR Head Praises U.S.-China Dialogue
Following the fifth round of U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) talks last week, USTR head Michael Froman praised bilateral progress in a July 12 press release. The S&ED aims to enhance mutual economic ties. The talks took place in Washington D.C. July 10-11. Froman lauded Chinese policy gestures that, according to the release, provide greater U.S. access to the Chinese market.

"Actions under the S&ED also promise real results for American innovators, creative industries and workers, from more vigorous protection and enforcement of trade secrets to strengthened software legalization efforts at state-owned enterprises and improved enforcement of intellectual property rights,” said Froman in the release.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi were in attendance. The S&ED talks come in the wake of a presidential summit last month between President Obama and Chinese President Xi in California, the first face-to-face talks between the two since newly-minted Xi took office in March.
