May 16 Was Effective Date for U.S.-Australia Defense Treaty, State Says

The effective date for the defense trade treaty between the U.S. and Australia was May 16, the State Department said. The Department published a final rule amending the International Traffic in Arms Regulations to implement the 2007 treaty in April (see 13041017).
