  • House Resolution 158, recognizing the importance of ports to the economy and national security of the U.S.; introduced April 12 by Rep. Janice Hahn, D-Calif. (here)
  • HR-1322, Customs Training Enhancement Act; establishes 15 yearly educational seminars at ports-of-entry to improve CBP’s ability to classify and appraise imported articles and monitor mislabeling and transshipment. The bill appropriates $3 million annually for 2013-2017 to pay for the seminars, and requires CBP to work with interested private sector stakeholders to craft the seminars; introduced by Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-Ill., March 21 (here).
  • HR-949, Invest in America Jobs Act; requires that steel, iron and manufactured goods used for Federally funded transportation and infrastructure projects be produced in the U.S.; introduced by Rep. Nick Rahall II, D-W.V., March 5 (here)
  • HR-947, Multimodal Opportunities Via Enhanced Freight (MOVE) Act, which requires development of a national freight network to assist states in “strategically directing resources to improve movement of freight, and creates a competitive grant program for projects that improve national transportation efficiency. Introduced by Rep. Albio Sires, D-N.J., March 5 (here). The accompanying Senate bill is S-387 (see 3022803).
  • HR 1524, Clean Energy Technology Manufacturing and Export Assistance Act, requires green technologies purchased with federal funds to consist of 85 percent domestic content. Properties eligible for renewable energy production or investment tax credits also fall under the 85 percent requirement. Introduced by Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., April 12 (here).
  • HR-1534, Port Security Grant Act; reauthorizes appropriations for the port security grant program through 2017; introduced by Rep. Janice Hahn, D-Calif., April 12 (here).
  • HR-1536, Safeguarding American Commerce and Agriculture Act; creates an Office of Agricultural Inspection within CBP, headed by an assistant commissioner; introduced by Rep. Janice Hahn, D-Calif., April 12 (here).
