BIA/Kelsey predicted the revenue “is expected to grow to 9.5 percent by 2017 as contracts expire and are renegotiated.” It said the prediction is based on the overall and expected growth in TV households, cable penetration rates, fees local stations are receiving from cable and satellite delivery systems, fees stations pay parent networks, and the amounts received by non-top four affiliates. In Tuesday’s release, BIA/Kelsey Chief Economist Mark Fratrik said the rising revenues “reflect the changing arrangements between local affiliates and the parent networks."
