Companies are considering consolidating existing datacenter facilities and alternatives to building new “owned” datacenters, and some are even considering reducing datacenter capacity, DCD Intelligence said. Tighter budgets are resulting in a move away from building highly resilient bulletproof “Tier 4” facilities, with “Tier 3” facilities being examined as “sufficient to save on the cost of building a Tier 4 facility,” the report said.
