CBP, USDA to Hold Meeting on Simplified Entry and PGA Message Set
CBP invited members of the trade industry to attend a public meeting on the Cut Flower Pilot Project, a proposal developed by CBP, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Association of Floral Importers of Florida that will be conducted at Miami International Airport in 2013 in conjunction with the CBP Simplified Entry Pilot. The meeting will take place on Sept. 12 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Miami International Airport, Cargo Area 2261 NW 66th Avenue Building 702 - Suite 205 Miami, Florida. The pilot is hoped to help "manage risk levels with greater speed and product accuracy to focus inspection efforts on higher risk products; improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency; and eliminate shipment release delays caused by miscalculated sample breakdowns." The cut flower pilot is the first step towards a broader application of the participating government agency (PGA) message set, said a CBP spokesman. "The Simplified Entry will be the first mechanism by which the [PGA] Message set will be tested and we are looking at this cut flower pilot that was in the works as a potential to do the first test," he said.
