CPSC Lists Top 10 Reported Products on SaferProducts.gov

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said that since its public database on safety incidents (SaferProducts.gov) was created one year ago, more than 6,600 people have reported products that caused harm or the potential to harm individuals in or around the home. CPSC issued a list of the top ten products reported to CBP via its public database. About 36% of the reports involved kitchen products, mostly involving electric ranges or ovens, dishwashers, refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee and tea pots.

Plans to Build Search Tools so People Can See Product Reports & Reviews

CPSC's plan for the second year of SaferProducts.gov includes a public service video campaign so more consumers learn about use the database. CPSC is also working on developing mobile apps and scanners to help people find and use SaferProducts.gov information from their phones. The agency also plans to build search tools so when people search on the Web, they see SaferProducts.gov reports along with product reviews.
