House Transportation Announced Feb 2 Mark-up of Surface Transportation Reauthorization
On February 2, 2012, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a mark-up of the American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, legislation to provide a long term reauthorization and reform of federal surface transportation programs.

According to the Committee the transportation proposal, which will be introduced in the House prior to the markup, will reform and streamline programs, cut red tape in the project approval process, increase states’ flexibility in determining their most critical transportation needs, and encourage private sector participation in financing and rebuilding infrastructure. The Committee notes that the legislation will contain no earmarks.
