President Nominates 5th Commissioner for CPSC

On January 23, 2012, the President nominated Marietta S. Robinson to be a Commissioner at the Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the White House, Robinson has practiced as a trial attorney for 33 years, handing a wide variety of litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants.

The last time the CPSC had five Commissioners was before Commissioner Moore left, which occurred in October 2011. His departure left the Commission with two Democratic and two Republican Commissioners, which provided an increased likelihood of tied votes. Press sources indicate that if confirmed, Robinson would restore a Democratic majority.
