Four CES Operators to Perform Cargo Exams for Seaport of NY/Newark

Effective January 9, 2012 and for the next five years, four CES locations are the only facilities used to perform examinations of seaport cargo in the Port of New York/Newark to include non-intrusive inspections (NII), agriculture, commercial, and enforcement examinations. The four CES operators are.

  • East Coast Warehouse, 1130-50 Polaris Street, Port Elizabeth, NJ (for all CBP exams);
  • New York Container Terminal CES, 241 Western Ave., Staten Island, NY (for all CBP exams);
  • H&M International Transportation, 700 Belleville Turnpike, Kearny, NJ (for NII, enforcement and commercial exams); and
  • SalSon Logistics, Inc, 888 Doremus Ave., Newark, NJ (for agriculture exams).

On January 7, 2012, the Port announced that CBP will continue to conduct all types of examinations at its Red Hook Container Terminal in the immediate future.

(The Pipeline states that the number of operators has been reduced to four locations in order to increase the efficiency of CBP examinations. Under the new configuration, CBP expects to complete its examinations at a faster rate which is expected to strengthen CBP's enforcement operations and facilitate commerce in the port. See Informational Pipeline for more information on CES examinations.)
