CBP Announces FDA Product Code Changes for Tobacco, Nitrate, & Toothpaste
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced 10 Food and Drug Administration Product Code modifications for Industry 98 Industry Tobacco Products (menthol and other flavored) and Industry 63 Human and Animal Drugs (potassium nitrate). In addition, one 76 Dental code (toothpaste ingredient) is no longer available for use.

The following Industry 98 product codes have been created and are available for immediate use:
- 98 A 05 Cigarette Tobacco, Bulk, Flavored (Menthol)
- 98 A 06 Cigarette Tobacco, Bulk, Flavored (Other)
- 98 A 07 Tobacco Refuse, Bulk, Flavored (Menthol)
- 98 A 08 Tobacco Refuse, Bulk, Flavored (Other)
- 98 A 09 Roll-Your-Own Tobacco, Bulk, Flavored (Menthol)
- 98 A 10 Roll-Your-Own Tobacco, Bulk, Flavored (Other)
The following Industry 98 product codes have had their descriptions updated:
- 98 A 01 is now Cigarette Tobacco, Bulk, Unflavored
- 98 A 02 is now Tobacco Refuse, Bulk, Unflavored
- 98 A 04 is now Roll-Your-Own Tobacco, Bulk, Unflavored
The following Industry 63 product code has been created and is available for immediate use:
- 63 U 01 Potassium Nitrate
Additionally, the following product code is no longer available for use:
- 76 N RE Mechanical Tooth Desensitizer In Toothpaste
