  • Dual-use export rules. European Parliament states that it has revised EU dual-use export control rules by voting against granting general EU authorizations for exports to certain countries (such as China, India, Russia and Turkey) of telecommunication technologies that can be used in connection with human rights or freedom of speech violations. Parliament also prohibited dual-use exports to countries under arms embargoes imposed by the EU Council, the OSCE or the UN. (here)
  • EU-Palestinian trade deal. European Parliament voted on September 27 to approve a trade agreement that will help boost the Palestinian economy by enabling the West Bank and Gaza to expand exports of farm and fisheries products to the EU from early 2012. (here)
