CPSC Announces Open Meetings with Industry Stakeholders

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has updated as of August 10, 2011 the list of meetings between CPSC and its stakeholders that are open to the public, unless otherwise stated:

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties.   • Training of Mexican mfers. CPSC staff Mark Kumagai, Office of Hazard Identification and Reduction and Frank Nava, Office of Compliance and Field Operations, will travel to Mexico City to train Mexican manufactures on CPSC safety requirements and on internationally recognized best practices for designing and manufacturing safe products; 08/24 and 8/25/11.
  • Pyrex glassware. Robert Howell, Office of Hazard Identification and Reduction and other staff meeting with Deborah Paskin (World Kitchen), Lee Muir (World Kitchen), Dr. Bill Whitney (World Kitchen), and Kerrie Campbell (Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP), to discuss confidential and proprietary information about Pyrex glassware composition, manufacturing process, product specifications and quality control processes and procedures.   • Inflatable Play Devices. Hope Nesteruk, Division of Human Factors, meeting with representatives from ASTM F15.16 Subcommittee for Constant Air Inflatable Play Devices for Home Use to discuss Constant Air Inflatable Play Devices for Home Use draft standard ballot results. 08/31/11
  • U.S.-China Product Safety Summit. CPSC will host the biennial U.S.-China Product Safety Summit in Washington DC on October 13-14, 2011. The Summit will include public sessions. Check back for further details and registration information in coming weeks. Contact information will be provided when this announcement is updated. 10/13 and 10/14/11.
  • Apparel, Footwear and Accessories. Addendum posting on completed meeting. Chairman Inez Tenenbaum and staff met with representatives of the apparel, footwear and accessory industry. Subject matter of discussion will be the current issues pertaining to this industry and enhancing communications. The meeting is in response to a joint letter to Chairman Tenenbaum, dated July 11, 2011. 08/08/11
  • Acxiom's data integration. Addendum posting on completed meeting. Chairman Inez Tenenbaum and staff met with representatives from Acxiom, Jim Coy, Sales Manager, Acxiom, Dan Lackner, Industry Leader, Government, Les Spivey, Senior Vice President, Alpine Group. Subject matter of discussion will be Acxiom's data integration. 08/08/11.
  • ICPHSO symposium. Several CPSC employees (to be determined) will participate as speakers or agency representatives in a symposium of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) in Seoul, Korea; 10/31/11 - 11/03/11.
