  • EU-Russia trade. The EU Parliament has passed a resolution at the EU-Russia Summit favoring more ambitious trade and cooperation agreements with Russia if it does more to protect basic human rights. MEPs also hope the Summit will help overcome remaining obstacles to Russia's joining the WTO, such as Russia's ban on all imports of EU vegetables and its failure so far to rectify "trade irritants" like the Russia-Kazakhstan-Belarus customs union which has led to higher consolidated tariffs.
