  • Online public hearing on EU customs. The European Parliament's Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will host a public hearing on June 16 on the modernization of customs, which should be adopted by Parliament later this year. The hearing will focus on how to ensure effective customs controls, etc. and will be streamed live on the web. (here)
  • EU-Canada trade agreement. Members of the European Parliament have adopted a resolution welcoming progress made in negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada, but also voicing concerns about seal products, tar sands, intellectual property rights, and public procurement resolution.   • EU, Russia to discuss WTO accession, etc. On June 9-10, 2011, the EU-Russia Summit will take place where delegations are expected to focus on the EU-Russia Partnership for Modernization, Russia's WTO accession, global economy and governance issues, etc. (here)
  • EU official to visit Latin America. The European Commission Vice-President for Industry and Entrepreneurship will visit Chile, Argentina, and Brazil from June 9-13, 2011 to promote further cooperation on industrial and innovation policy in order to boost economic integration, cooperation for raw materials, promote international standardization, etc. (here)
