CRS Says EU, Canada-Colombia FTAs Could Compete with U.S.

The Congressional Research Service has issued a report on the major policy issues that Congress has had, and will continue to pursue, in relation to U.S.-Colombia policy, such as the pending U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement.

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. According to the report, these major issues include the ongoing challenges of human rights, demobilization and displacement, drug trends, and Colombia’s regional relations. However, Colombia has recently negotiated free trade agreements with Canada and the European Union, which, when they take effect, could increase competitiveness with the U.S. in various sectors.
