According to a Michaud press release, H.R. 763 would allow states to increase the weight of trucks allowed on their Interstate systems. Michaud notes that the introduction of H.R. 763 comes as Congress prepares to consider the first bill to reauthorize surface transportation programs in more than six years.
H.R. 763 is similar to a bill introduced by Michaud in the 111th Congress (H.R. 1799). (See ITT’s Online Archives or 08/06/10 news, 10080616, for BP summary of Michaud’s comments on H.R. 1799 and its Senate companion bill.)
