28 Reps Ask for WTO Complaint Against China Rare Earths Policy
On March 3, 2011, a bipartisan group of 28 Representatives sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Kirk demanding he file a complaint with the World Trade Organization against China’s unfair trade policy that limits exports of rare earth elements.

In the letter the Representatives state that a disruption in supply of rare earths could jeopardize national security, hinder U.S. long-term efforts to achieve domestic energy security, and damage U.S. world-leading high tech industries. According to the letter, it is in the best interest of the U.S. to vigorously pursue options before the World Trade Organization related to Chinese rare earth trade policy.
