FDA Announces 2011 Meeting on Food Coloring Effects on Children
The Food and Drug Administration has issued a notice announcing that the Food Advisory Committee will hold an open meeting regarding children’s consumption of synthetic color additives in food and adverse effects on behavior.

Meeting to Provide Advice, Recommendations on FDA Regulatory Issues
According to the meeting agenda, the Food Advisory Committee will discuss whether available relevant data demonstrate a link between children’s consumption of synthetic color additives in food and adverse effects on behavior. The general function of the meeting is to provide advice and recommendations to the FDA on its regulatory issues.
FDA intends to make background material available to the public two business days before the meeting. Background material will be posted here.
Data, information, or views may be presented orally or in writing, on issues pending before the committee. Written submissions are due by March 23, 2011. Formal oral presenters should notify the contact person by March 15, 2011 with a statement of the nature of the evidence/arguments they wish to present, etc.
