(In late 2009, Los Angeles approved tariff amendments to allow truckers waiting for delivery of equipment ordered before 2010 to continue operating existing trucks past the January 1, 2010 clean truck ban date while waiting for Prop 1B related grants to be issued by the South Coast Air Quality Management District or other grant agencies. The Port of Long Beach approved similar provisions to its tariff.)

Temporary Extensions Expire at 11:59 pm on April 30, 2010

The Clean Trucks notice notifies independent owner operators and licensed motor carriers who applied for and received the temporary extension that such trucks will no longer be allowed to enter marine terminals in the Port of Long Beach or the Port of Los Angeles as of 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2010. Trucks with the CARB extension will be “red lighted” at the container terminal gate.

Truck owners with the extension who have not received their new truck or installed their CARB-verified diesel emission control system (VDECS) are urged to contact their vendor regarding the status of their order.
