3. ASEAN Clean Energy Trade, Technology and Investment Forum

Export.gov is announcing that the U.S. Trade and Development Agency will host an ASEAN clean energy trade and investment conference April 19-21, 2010 in Manila, Philippines. The goal of the conference is to address issues related to clean energy development in the region. The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) will work with USTDA on the event. 4. Middle East & North Africa Technology and Projects Forum

5. VP & DOT Secy Announce Almost 200 New Recovery Act Transit Projects

On March 5, 2010, Vice President Biden and Transportation Secretary LaHood announced funding for 191 new Recovery Act transit projects in 42 states and Puerto Rico that will help transform U.S. infrastructure and support thousands of jobs across the country. 6. 11 Airports to Receive Imaging Technology Units from Recovery Act Funds

7. DHS Secy to Discuss Global Aviation Security w/ Asia/Pacific Counterparts

8. CPSC to Vote on Proposed New Information Collection for Third-Party Labs

The Commissioners of the Consumer Product Safety Commission are scheduled to vote by March 11, 2010 on a draft Federal Register notice announcing the submission of a proposed new collection of information to the Office of Management and Budget for approval. The collection of information would allow CPSC to evaluate and accredit third party labs to test children's products, as required by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. 11. ITA/Interior Announce 2010 Watch Duty Exemptions for Virgin Islands

The International Trade Administration and the Department of Interior have issued a notice announcing the allocation of calendar year 2010 duty exemptions for watch assembly producers located in the U.S. Virgin Islands. 12. CBP Extends Import Restrictions on El Salvador Archaeological Material

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a final rule, effective March 8, 2010, which amends the regulations to reflect the extension of import restrictions on certain categories of archaeological material from the Pre-Hispanic cultures of the Republic of El Salvador until March 8, 2015. 15. BIS Denial Order for Conspiracy to Export Lab Equipment to Syria

The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order denying certain export privileges for a period of one year to Mohamad M. Elkateb for conspiring to export U.S.-origin lab equipment from the U.S. to Syria, via Indonesia, without the required U.S. Government authorization, pursuant to a settlement agreement. 16. WTO, OECD, UNCTAD Report Advises G20 Countries to Oppose Protectionism, Finish Doha

The World Trade Organization reports that a March 8, 2010 report by the WTO, OECD and UNCTAD on G20 trade and investment measures states that high unemployment and uncertainties on global growth point to the need for G20 governments "to remain vigilant in opposing protectionism" and to "make concrete their many calls to bring the Doha Round to a rapid conclusion." 18. China Approves First Geographical Indication for Cognac

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine announced that it has approved a geographical indication for Cognac products, making Cognac the first foreign GI product to obtain special protection in China. 19. CBSA Notice on Final Affirmative AD/CV Determinations for Certain OCTG from China

In the March 6, 2010 edition of the Canada Gazette, the Canada Border Services Agency posted a notice regarding its February 22, 2010 final affirmative antidumping and countervailing duty determinations on certain oil country tubular goods fromChina. CBSA notes that the Canadian International Trade Tribunal's injury finding is due by March 23, 2010 and that provisional duties will continue to apply until this date. 20. Canadian Int'l Trade Tribunal Interim Review of Certain Waterproof Footwear from China

In the March 6, 2010 edition of the Canada Gazette, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal announced it has initiated an interim review of its December 2005 order concerning certain waterproof footwear from China. The purpose of the interim review is to determine if the order should be amended to exclude a product (fishing waders) for which an exclusion has been requested.
