Sen Finance Reschedules Preference Program Hearing for March 9
The Senate Finance Committee has announced a March 9, 2010 hearing on "U.S. Preference Programs: Options for Reform." (This hearing was previously scheduled for November 19, 2009, but was postponed.)
Sen Finance Chair Raises FTA, China Issues at Trade Agenda Hearing
Senate Finance Chairman Baucus (D) issued a press release following the Committee's March 3, 2010 hearing on the Administration's 2010 trade agenda. According to the press release, Baucus stressed that job creation must be at the center of the U.S. trade agenda and urged the U.S. Trade Representative to put into action a plan to achieve the goal of doubling U.S. exports within five years. In order to meet that goal, Baucus proposed five steps, including resolving outstanding issues and approval of the pending free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia, and Panama. President Nominates DOC Asst Secy for Market Access, Compliance
On March 1, 2010, the President nominated Michael C. Camuez to be Assistant Secretary for Market Access and Compliance, Department of Commerce.
House Passes Trademark Technical and Conforming Amendment Act
On March 3, 2010, the House passed S. 2968, the Trademark Technical and Conforming Amendment Act of 2010, to make certain technical and conforming amendments to the Lanham Act.
Trade-Related Bill Introduced on March 3
On March 3, 2010, the following trade-related bill was introduced:

A bill to amend the Federal Meat Inspection Act and Poultry Products Inspection Act to improve food safety by supporting efforts by entities that purchase beef, pork, or poultry products to further examine the products to ensure they remain safe for human consumption and to prohibit interference with such examination efforts, and for other purposes |
