4. WTO Announces Pakistan's Acceptance of 2005 Protocol Amending TRIPS Agreement

On February 10, 2010,the World Trade Organization informed WTOmembers that the Government of Pakistan had accepted the Protocol Amending the TRIPS Agreement Done at Geneva on December 6, 2005. The WTO states thatthe Protocol will enter into force for Pakistan "upon acceptance of the Protocol by two thirds of the Members." 5. China & Costa Rica Conclude FTA Talks

The Chinese Government's official website reports that China and Costa Rica have concluded their year-long negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement. During their sixth and last round talks, the two sides discussed market access, rules of origin, and intellectual property rights. (No information was provided on a possible effective date.) 6. World Economic Forum to Hold Latin American Forum in Colombia in April

The World Economic Forum has posted information on its Latin American forum to be held April 6-8, 2010 in Cartagena, Colombia. The forum is entitled, New Partnerships for a Sustainable Recovery and is chaired by business stakeholders. 7. OFAC Releases Enforcement Information for February 5th

The Office of Foreign Assets Control has issued its civil penalties enforcement information for February 5, 2010. According to OFAC, Balli Group PLC and Balli Aviation, Ltd. have agreed to pay a $15 million civil penalty to settle allegations of violations of the Iranian Transactions Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.
