The Department of State has posted Secretary Clinton's November 11, 2009 remarks at the APEC Conference. Clinton noted that the U.S. has engaged the Burmese authorities in high-level dialogue to advance the goals of democratic reforms and human rights. She added that U.S. sanctions will remain in place until the U.S. sees meaningful progress in key areas. Clinton added that officials discussed a wide range of economic and foreign policy issues, especially expanding trade and ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth. 2. Zimbabwe May be Suspended from KP Diamond Certification Scheme
The State Department has issued a press release regarding its serious concerns about Zimbabwe's compliance with the Kimberley Process (KP) rough diamond certification scheme. The U.S. is awaiting full and expeditious implementation of the stringent controls that were agreed at the KP Plenary in Swakopmund, Namibia on November 5, 2009 for exports of rough diamonds from Zimbabwe's Marange fields. 3. Sony Applies to CBP for Recordation of Trade Name
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is announcing that Sony has filed for recordation of the trade name ''Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB,'' used by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, incorporated in Sweden, pursuant to 19 CFR 133.12. The trade name is used in connection with telephone apparatuses and instruments, which are manufactured in Brazil, China, India, France, Malaysia, and Mexico.
