The White House has posted a joint statement from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada from the recent meeting of the North American Leaders in Mexico. In the joint statement the leaders noted that they are investing in border infrastructure, including advanced technology, to create truly modern borders to facilitate trade and the smooth operation of supply chains, while protecting security. The leaders pledge to cooperate in the protection of intellectual property rights to facilitate the development of innovative economies. 2. Readout of DHS Secretary's Meeting with Mexican Official
The Department of Homeland Security has posted a readout of Secretary Napolitano's meeting with the Mexican Interior Secretary about joint security initiatives including combating transnational crime, enforcement efforts along the U.S.-Mexico border and coordination in response to H1N1 flu. 3. New Commissioner Joins the FMC

4. CBP Announces Expansion of Global Entry Pilot for Air Passengers
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a general notice announcing the expansion of its international trusted traveler pilot program, referred to as Global Entry. Currently at seven airports, the pilot will be expanded to include thirteen additional airports. The exact starting date for each airport location will be announced at site at http://www.globalentry.gov. 5. EPA Notice on Buy American Waiver
The Environmental Protection Agency is, effective July 24, 2009, granting a nationwide waiver of the Buy American requirements of Section 1605 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for de minimis incidental components of eligible water infrastructure projects funded by ARRA. EPA states that this action permits the use of non-domestic iron, steel, and manufactured goods when they occur in de minimis incidental components of such projects funded by ARRA that may otherwise be prohibited under section 1605(a). 6. FMCSA Meeting on Unified Carrier Registration Plan
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is announcing a September 3, 2009 meeting of the Unified Carrier Registration Plan Board of Directors. The Board will continue its work in developing and implementing the Unified Carrier Registration Plan and Agreement. 7. OFAC Updates Information for Two Entities
The Office of Foreign Assets Control has made changes to the identifying information associated with two entities located in the Cayman Islands, previously designated pursuant to Executive Order 13382, ''Blocking Property of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferators and Their Supporters.'' 8. DOJ States That 100 Medical Devices Donated to Country for Testing Does Not Violate the FCPA
The Department of Justice has determined that a company did not violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by providing 100 medical devices and related items and services to a foreign government for testing, as the donated products will be provided to the foreign government, as opposed to individual government officials, for ultimate use by patient recipients selected in accordance with specific guidelines. 9. Canadian Int'l Trade Tribunal Initiates Injury Investigation for Certain Mattress Innerspring Units from China
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal posted a Commencement of Inquiry notice in the August 8, 2009 edition of the Canada Gazette, that it has initiated an inquiry to determine whether the dumping of certain mattress innerspring units from China has caused injury or retardation or is threatening to cause injury, and to determine such other matters as the Tribunal is required to determine. 10. Canadian Int'l Trade Tribunal Rescinds Finding on Stainless Steel Wire from Korea, Switzerland, India
